Cathay Subsidiary Services consists of several independent departments that provides professional services to Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and its subsidiaries (the ‘Company’), including but not limited to Cathay Cargo Terminal, Cathay Dining, HAS by Cathay and Vogue Laundry.

Finance Business Partnering Manager
Department:  Finance
Job Location:  Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau Island

The selected candidate will be responsible for end‑to‑end financial operations encompassing accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial business partnering. This role plays a critical part in supporting trade finance operations, overseeing financial risk management and compliance, and ensuring financial practices are aligned with commodity trading best practices and Group governance standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage full sets of accounts, including month‑end and year‑end closing activities.

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning, including monitoring funding requirements arising from trade finance activities.

  • Oversee inventory accounting and controls, ensuring appropriate valuation and alignment with commodity trading practices.

  • Liaise closely with external auditors and Group Finance on fair value assessments, valuation methodologies, and audit deliverables related to trading positions.

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable financial, regulatory, and risk management requirements, with a particular focus on implementing strong counterparty risk controls and maintaining robust internal governance standards.

  • Prepare budget and regular forecasts, including the annual budget and 3-year plan, and quarterly reforecast (including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow, project related budget / forecast).

  • Partner with all functional teams within the subsidiary and relevant stakeholders across Cathay Group to build financial awareness.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business model, operational challenges, objectives, and key value drivers.

  • Monitor business performance to ensure alignment with the business plan, and promptly report any deviations to the General Manager.

  • Provide insightful business performance analysis, trends, and commentary to support management decision‑making.

  • Support business case preparation for project investments, applying appropriate financial analysis and risk assessment.

  • Other ad-hoc projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years accounting related experience gained from a recognised audit firm or international in-house finance function.

  • Recognised CPA / Accountancy qualification is required.

  • Working experience in Big Four accounting firm is highly preferred.

  • Solid experience in commodity trading, energy, aviation fuel, or logistics industries is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with commodity trading and risk management systems (CTRM) and/or SAP TRM would be an advantage.

  • Strong communication skill to all levels in the organisation and agility to work within a team environment.

  • Strong analytics and reporting skills in producing reports, documentation and presentations.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a start‑up or developing business environment within a large corporate group, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset balanced with strong governance discipline.

  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong command of both spoken and written English and Cantonese/Chinese.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
